A photo of me and my Dad I have never seen before until this morning when my Mum sent me it. I can't believe I was ever that small and vulnerable. Isn't it crazy how you can come in to the world and have to rely on someone else to keep you safe. I love my parent's so much and am so grateful for the experiences they have given me. Happy Father's Day, Dad. Love, L.
View from our flat.
Ok so today has involved lots of cleaning and sorting through junk that we have lying around in our bedroom! I went through my make up bag and threw a lot of stuff out, something I've been wanting to do for ages! It feels good to do that every now and again and it sets me off on the right foot for the week ahead 🙂 Made meatballs and spaghetti for dinner and now I feel like an elephant so I'm going to lie on the sofa (again) and watch Blind Date before a hike in the morning! Love, L.
I'm currently sat on the sofa watching Tarzan whilst I sip a hot cup of tea. I've been browsing Pinterest tonight for some inspiration. I did try Tumblr at first but I just can't get my head around it at all. I'm really not a fan of the layout, I find it all very confusing and hard work to use, so here's a little mood board of some thing's inspiring me at the moment from Pinterest! Using Photoshop to manipulate photographs and merge thing's together, I love this idea! Clean cut, simple fashion like that gorgeous black swimming costume styled with a pair of retro 60's style sunglasses, they can make any outfit look chic! Can't wait to get a pair for our summer holiday. Fresh, sun kissed skin and minimal make up or even better .. non at all! What I love about going on holiday is being able to wear only your tan on your face and still feel pretty. Loving the grainy effects and style of film photography at the moment, I think it's about time I invested in a film camera for the summer. Any recommendations? I want to see as many places as possible this year, particularly Europe. I want to visit all the untouched places, blue water, lots of flowers, not many people. I really want to see more and live more! I even want to get out camping more and after an unsuccessful trip to Scotland last year, I would like to go back when the weather is a little better.
Hey lovelies! How do you like the new layout? I decided it was about time I revamped my blog after 1 and a half years! My aim was to create a blog that I would love to sit and read and I have always liked the idea of scrolling through posts instead of having to click on one individual image. I got this idea from popular Scandinavian bloggers, such as Janni Deler and Angelica Blick who have inspired me massively when it comes to the blog.
You'll notice not too much has changed here as I like simplicity and I want to make my blog easy for you to navigate around. I decided to add a new header so now you know exactly who's writing these posts haha! That photo is from my most favourite couple of days in Koh Phi Phi last year, sat outside our little hut, it is a 'selfie' but I like it and it will do until I get some 'proper' photos taken! (Anyone want to practice shooting?) I also decided to change it up a little with the fonts I was using. I wanted something fuss free and easy to read so I chose Trebuchet MS for my posts. I like the style a lot more than my previous one!
This year I want to focus more on my blog and I want to post on a regular basis but I also want my content to get better and more in-depth. I don't want to keep posting crappy images where not much thought has gone in to taking them, so I'm promising to spend more time focusing on my photography skills. With that said, my main focus will be to create posts more fashion based as that's the direction I want this blog to go. Although, it is very hard when you don't have anyone to shoot with, are very shy in front of the camera and only have fields around you to shoot in, not ideal but I'm sure I'll figure something out by the end of the year... *fingers tightly crossed*.
I'm also all ears when it comes to suggestions on what you'd like to see and read so don't hesitate to send me a message! I would love to hear your suggestions!
Hey loves! I hope you’re having a lovely Christmas! Mine has been very full on today as we woke up early to head to Manchester for the Utd game. We stopped at Wagamama’s for lunch with everyone before the match, I had the steak bulgogi which was so delicious! I just wish we had a Wagamama’s nearby because I swear I’d spend all my time there, haha! We ended up being a little late arriving to the match, maps on our iPhone was being a total pain in the bum so we ended up doing a few U-turns to get to the right car park but we managed.. eventually! I’m just glad I wasn’t driving, there is nothing worse than driving in the city. I hate it! The game ended 2-2 which is a little disappointing but I guess it’s better than losing. Every match I’ve been to Utd always lose so it’s nice to see a little hope ha! Now, I’m going to cook something quick as we are a little hungry and then catch up with a few series of Walking Dead before bed and work in the morning 🙁 So I will speak to you Thursday! Night, L.
On Sunday after our walk we went for a curry at our local Indian! It ended up just being my mum, dad, Josh and I because my brother was hungover and my gran doesn’t like Indian food…. It was still a good night and the food was delicious. I always have to order chips with my curry, I really don’t like Indian rice, I find it really hard and grainy unlike jasmine rice. Anyway, today it’s really cold outside so I made some homemade soup and tonight Josh and I are going to the Mountain Film Festival that takes place at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal every year. I’m hoping to get my hands on some gloves for walking and maybe some other bits too. Speak later, L.
The view from the gym!
Hello, hello, hello! How’re you? I haven’t been on social media much these past few days. I’ve enjoyed getting back to the gym and getting some early nights in! Did any of you watch Blue Planet the other night? If so then you’ll be probably be just amazed as me by the fish with a see-through head! What an incredible world we live in! Josh and I both want to become Nat Geo photographers now haha! Ah, if only…. Anyway, here’s a little list for today! Speak soon, L.
What am I wearing today?
I’m still wearing my gym kit! I had a little lie in this morning and did an hour and a half at the gym. I really want some nice gym leggings and trainers but I’m not sure what to get for comfort and for practicality… I’m loving the Adidas NMD‘s but they’re so expensive, I’m not sure I can justify that money on a pair of gym trainers!
What am I listening to today?
I’ve had Havana by Camila Cabello going round and round in my head for days but lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Rihanna’s old albums.
What’s my mood today?
I feel happy and motivated today! I have 4 days off work after tomorrow so I’m really looking forward to that 🙂
What have I eaten today?
Scrambled eggs on toast and I’ve just had a sesame snap with chocolate on, mmmm. I’m going to have some homemade soup soon though.
What are my plans for the weekend?
Spending time with my family and Josh, it’s my birthday so I’m not entirely sure what we will get up to but I’m sure we will do something nice. Hopefully we have nice weather on Sunday because I want to go for another hike!
What was the most fun thing that happened this week?
Not a lot has happened really. We went to watch the fireworks in Kirkby Lonsdale on Sunday. That was nice but it’s so cold here now that we didn’t spend too long stood outside!
What am I looking forward to?
Obviously the run up to Christmas and all the festivities! But other than that I am looking forward to spending the weekend in London soon!
Today is not a good day. I came down with a stinking cold yesterday so I’m currently tucked up in bed and I’ve taken the day off work. I hate feeling like this, there’s nothing worse than being ill! Today will consist of love island, food, cups of lemon and honey and a lot of napping, haha! I managed to finish editing my vlog from the weekend which I just posted on YouTube so please go check it out and let me know what you think! Don’t forget to subscribe and give it a thumbs up if you like it, talk agains soon when I’m feeling better, L.
NYX is one of those beauty brands I’m slowly introducing into my make up bag. I love their soft matte lip cream and have recently been using their Sculpt & Highlight Brow Contour that I came across over on ASOS. However, although there are products that I love, I have recently been using their Control Freak Brow Gel which really isn’t working for me as I’ve noticed it leaves them looking dry and flakey and I’ve been trying to peel off the gel in the staff room toilets at work.
To give NYX the benefit of the doubt, I decided to order 3 shades from their Lip Lingerie range from boots.com as their matte lip cream was a firm favourite of mine.
Exotic, Embellishment and Lace Detail stood out to me the most as I was after a very soft natural looking shades. There are a number of shades to choose from but I thought I would get my use out of these the most.
My first impression when I picked my parcel up from Boots was that all the colours couldn’t be any less me. These aren’t the sort of colours I was expecting as on the colour chart, they looked softer and a lot more neutral online. I tested them all out using the applicator which I think is a little difficult to use, it’s very hard and large, whereas I think a brush like applicator would be easier to use for a more precise finish.
I wore Exotic for a night out in Bowness on my friends sisters hen do and I loved the look and feel of wearing it. It wasn’t heavy and it didn’t stain my wine glass which by the way is one of my pet hates, seeing glasses with greasy lipstick around the edge! I also rarely touched it up, only once after my meal and again later on in the night just to make sure my lips stood out. All night, I felt so glamorous wearing Exotic as it just suited my skin tone so well. And although it is hard to compete with the classic and timeless red lipstick, teamed with a LBD, Exotic will definitely be my go to when teaming it with a black outfit.
Lace detail really doesn’t suit my skin tone so I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone with dark skin as it looks as though you’ve smeared concealer all over your lips. I’m sure this would look fab on fair skin but it just wasn’t for me.
I am yet to try Embellishment as I have to be in the right mood for a dark lipstick. Although, I am excited to try it out as I loved wearing Exotic and feel as though these are great matte lipsticks for long lasting wear and make a really bold statement.
Overall, I would chose to use NYX Lip Lingerie again over their matte Lip Cream as I think the quality of the product is a lot longer lasting and the colours stand out more. I perhaps just need to do some more research in to what colours would suit me most but it’s so difficult to do when shopping online!
Have you tried any NYX products? What did you love or hate about them?
