10 Things That Make Me Happy

It’s sometimes easy to forget the good things we have in our lives that we sometimes take for granted. The small, inexpensive things that we experience every day or every so often that bring a smile to our faces. The people we couldn’t live without, the small acts of kindness, our favourite dinner made as a surprise. Whatever yours may be, I wanted to share with you the things that bring me happiness and I hope it can remind you to be grateful for the small things.

1. Family

   ‍

Spending some quality time, enjoying dinner and conversing about the day we’ve all had. There’s nothing like sharing my thoughts, ideas or problems with my family. Discussing everything with them is like a weight lifted off of my shoulders. They keep be grounded and put everything into perspective for me but not only that, they have also been there to support me with my decisions, whatever they may be.

2. Sunshine

   ‍

Waking up to the sunshine on a Spring/Summer morning always sets me off in a good mood for the day. The longer nights when the sun is around for longer, makes way for more to be done. Everyone seems to be a lot happier when the sun is shining, I just wish we had more of it here in the UK but because we get so little of it, it’s a great excuse for a holiday!

3. Discovering Something/Somewhere New

   ‍

A city, a new country, a really good restaurant or even just a quaint little cafe. Discovering a new place, especially somewhere unique inspires me in so many ways. It is my ultimate goal to visit as many places across the world as possible, particularly Asia as their lifestyle is completely different to ours here in the West.

4. A Great Outfit

   ‍

When I put together a really great outfit, I can spend ages strutting around the house, posing in front of the mirror wishing I had somewhere to go. There’s something so wonderful about putting on your best glad rags, putting some your favourite lipstick on and your most cherished heels and heading out for the evening. If you’re confident about the way you look, you will stand taller and be a lot more courageous.

5. Fresh Bed Sheets

   ‍

Coming home from a long, hard days work, getting washed and jumping into a clean bed is like heaven. The smell of freshly washed sheets and the softness of the covers that glide across my skin is one of the most comforting feelings there is and I can’t wait to jump into bed tonight after shaving my legs!

6. English Breakfast Tea

   ‍

In the morning with my toast and bovril and especially after a days work. Yorkshire English breakfast tea, with one sugar (and a ton of biscuits) satisfies my taste buds and makes me all warm inside. Even when I’m on holiday and it’s scorching hot, there is nothing nicer than a cuppa tea to help wash down that continental breakfast.

7. Reaching The Summit Of A Mountain

   ‍

I can’t say I’ve reached the top of many mountains but the ones I have climbed and managed to reach the summit of is a spectacular feeling. That sense of achievement and the feeling that you’re standing on top of the world puts an unbeatable smile on my face every single time and I can’t wait for the next climb!

8. Singing

   ‍

Singing in the car, where nobody can hear me but the sheep as I whizz past the fields on my way to and from work. There really is nothing like putting on Lemonade – Beyonce on full blast or taking it back to the 90’s with some classic RnB hits. There is a song for every emotion and music is the best way for releasing any unwanted stress.

9. Delicious Food

   ‍

Whether it be my favourite Thai dish, spicy beef salad or beef Penang or even bangers and mash, there is nothing a hearty home made meal can’t solve. Both my mum and gran are great cooks and I’ve been so blessed that I’ve been brought up on proper food. I believe it’s definitely the key to a healthy body and a healthy mind.

10. Quality Time Spent With Josh

   ‍

Dining out, walking in the countryside, going out for a coffee and a stroll around the shops, anything where we can spend time actually engaging in a proper conversation, relaxing and enjoying one another’s company. Working strange shifts and late nights really does take it’s toll so I make a point of spending real quality time together when we get the chance. Anyone have any dating ideas?
