Hello lovelies! I’m not really sure where to start but me and Josh finally have put our money somewhere and invested it into our first property! It’s not exactly what we planned on doing last year as we always wanted our own space etc. but it’s worked out well. We’ve bought my gran’s flat! It’s a huge investment for us and also a place that I would always want to keep as it’s basically been my home since the day I was born. It’s taken months for all the paperwork to go through, I think we got in touch with the council in August last year! I don’t want to go in to much detail as it’s very personal but obviously there will be progress pictures coming every so often on the blog and a possible YouTube video too. We will be living here for the next 2 years but sharing with my gran isn’t a problem as she’s my best friend and if you haven’t seen me mention that anywhere before then where have you been? I thought I would share with you some of the ideas I have going on in my head for how our bedroom will look and the sort of colour scheme I’m going for. I always thought I’d go for a very stark white room, with grey accents but I’ve completely gone the other way and I’m wanting to go fairly dark with rich blues, dark wood and splashes of green. It’s going to be a work in progress and we’ll start work in June/July of this year when the weather is more reliable and the nights are lighter so here’s a little mood board for you to imagine what our rooms going to look like. Our bedroom was once my dad’s room and the first place my mum stayed when she came over from Thailand 25 years ago. My dad’s initials are painted on to the wall from when he and my gran decorated in 1992 and although it’s a shame to remove it, the walls do need re-plastering (sorry dad). So, yeh.. not your typical ‘First Home’ post but a step in the right direction for a financially stable future as it’s so bloody tough nowadays getting on to the property ladder! At least without a huge mortgage, we can still enjoy holiday’s together and of course, my wardrobe isn’t going to suffer (much!). Let me know what you think of my decor taste and if you know of anywhere I can find huge floor mirrors, leave me a comment! Speak again soon, L.
